Start your own fundraiser for Solentra
Running a marathon, celebrating a birthday, or want to do something meaningful with your team? You can turn that moment into support for Solentra. With your own fundraiser you collect gifts from your friends, family or colleagues – and help make accessible mental health care possible for people with a refugee background. You don’t need any experience: setting up your fundraiser takes just a few minutes, and we’ll help you on your way.
Getting started
Your own fundraiser – sometimes called a peer-to-peer campaign – is a collection that you set up in support of Solentra. You create a personal fundraising page, share it with the people around you, and gather gifts around a moment or challenge that matters to you. From then on, we simply call it your fundraiser.
Anyone. You don’t need a prior connection to Solentra, and no fundraising experience. Individuals, associations, schools and companies are all welcome. Whether you run on your own or take part with a whole team: every fundraiser makes a difference.
As many as you can imagine. A few common starting points:
- A sporting challenge – a running, cycling or swimming event, a marathon, or a personal feat you get sponsored for.
- A celebration or milestone – a birthday, anniversary, wedding or retirement where, instead of gifts, you ask for donations to Solentra.
- A tribute – a collection in memory of someone for whom this cause mattered.
- A fundraiser with your association or company – a team challenge, an event, or a collective collection.
Don’t see your idea here? Then it’s probably possible too. Every form of engagement is welcome.
Your fundraiser runs through the peer-to-peer platform of the King Baudouin Foundation. In just a few minutes you create your own fundraising page, give it a name and a target amount, and share the link with the people around you. Setting it up takes only a couple of minutes.
Making your fundraiser a success
The most successful fundraisers have one thing in common: a personal story. Briefly share why you’re doing this and why Solentra moves you – that’s what convinces people to give. Add a photo or video, and keep it simple and sincere.
It helps enormously. The first gift on your page – often your own – gives others a reference point and shows you stand behind it yourself. You don’t have to be generous to make a difference; you’re simply setting the tone.
Start with your closest circle: family, friends and colleagues respond fastest and most warmly. Once the first gifts come in, expand step by step to a wider network. That’s how your fundraiser gradually builds momentum.
Share your page link wherever you reach people: via WhatsApp, email and your social media. Your fundraising page has share buttons ready, so one click is enough. Feel free to share more than once – not everyone sees your message the first time.
Keep the people around you posted – it’s contagious. Share at a milestone (“we’re already halfway!”), thank those who’ve given, and post an update after your sporting effort or event. Every update is a fresh chance for anyone who was still hesitating.

Don’t forget to thank your donors once your fundraiser has wrapped up. A short word of thanks closes your fundraiser warmly and shows people what they made possible together. We’re hugely grateful to you either way.
The practical side
Your gift goes straight to Solentra’s work, through the Friends of Solentra Fund. Concretely, your support makes interpreter hours possible – which open the door to care in someone’s own language – and strengthens our helpdesk and training for care workers. That way, your fundraiser reaches far more people than you might think at first glance.
Yes. The Friends of Solentra Fund is managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, which means gifts of 40 euros or more per year are 30% tax-deductible. A gift of 100 euros therefore actually costs the donor 70 euros.
The certificate is drawn up and sent by the King Baudouin Foundation, which centralises the gifts. Donors don’t need to do anything themselves – the certificate follows automatically for gifts that meet the conditions.
