For whom?
The Be-Coming Home project focuses on the Hallepoort and Bosnia neighbourhoods, two arrival and transit neighbourhoods in Saint-Gilles where inhabitants spend five years on average. Although the project is aimed at all residents, there is a special focus on young families, newcomers and socially isolated residents.
What?
‘Be-Coming Home’ is one of 132 Caring Neighbourhoods in Flanders and Brussels. A caring neighbourhood consists of three components: participation and inclusion, linking formal and informal care, and intersectoral cooperation.
A neighbourhood analysis in Saint-Gillis showed that residents experience a great need for connection and (in)formal support networks. By mobilising and informing residents, we aim to tap into their resilience and arrive at joint solutions to break the social isolation, promote integration and become a caring neighbourhood.
